Oct 10. When we tried to visit the Antonneli's, the street was so flooded that we had to turn back. Had cafe con leche in a restaurant in town and left. Drove a good part of the day in heavy rain, though we got out of it in the afternoon. The drive through the mountains was fascinating as well as dangerous. We stopped along a mountain road and walked down to the beautiful rushing stream just below. Washed clothes and swam, though there wasn't time to dry them. We got as far as Arriaga and camped outside of town along the road. The Mexican boys came around from the nearby farms to see the strange sights.
Had bought 4 fish in town--which we fried and ate. Delicious. We hung the clothes out on line which Ken strung between a tree and car and trailor, and prayed that it woudn't rain. The kids were awfully fussy in the camper, but finally settled down. It was hot and the insects ever present.
