Oct 27. Dan took the girls to school with him, and they went swimming and to classes. All they can talk about is Dan this and Dan that. He sent over a bag of bacon and eggs and other delicacies. What a treat!
Gordy...One time, Dan took us all to school, then on the way home he took us to the docks.
We were behind a school bus in which some boys were making leud gestures
at our car. Dan was furious. He sped up and got in front of the bus and
made it stop. Then he got on the bus and "knocked them up a bit" (as the
audio files put it). The police came--a friend of Dan's, and the boys on
the bus got yelled at all over again.
This was also where we met Manny Sanguillen. He worked on the compound
where we were staying. He promised to take me fishing, but it never worked out.
He did take me to one of his baseball practices. Manny signed
on with the Pittsburg Pirates the following year.

Oct 28. Ken had to take the car in in the morning, so we were busy loading, or rather, unloading the suitcases from car and camper. What a mound. He finally got away and got back in the afternoon.
There was a meeting at the little chapel that night, so we went, and Ken gave his testimony. Then we were invited to the Jenkins' for cake and coffee.
We got two malas
Or "molas," which are intricate Indian applique on cloth. We bought
an American Standard one--and it still hangs on our wall.
in town (though I wish we could have gotten more).
Oct 29. This was the big day for leaving. I washed some last minute things and they all dried. Still didn't rain! We spent the day packing up and cleaning the houses and ourselves. Finally 6:20 came and Mr. Jenkins drove us to the airport in the truck with our 15 suitcases.
We left at 8:30 on the jet from Panama City [over the Panama Canal] to Cali and had a pretty good trip--a little bumpy. Everybody was dead tired when we got in and most of the kids were asleep by the time we were through customs. We took 2 cabs to the Hotel Franco, and got a room with 4 beds. Flopped into bed.
