Oct 25. Had a good rest, and fixed breakfast up in the nice guest house at our disposition. What a treat that was. We could spread our things around and even had the prospect of finally washing the filthy clothes. We all decided to go into the city--see about boat passage and visit Sears, etc. Took the clothes in, in case we found a laundromat.
We had quite a day! With the sun beating down, we waited in the car for Ken while he went into the Captain of the Port building. Complications appeared. It was going to cost a great deal more than we had figured. There was no passage available for people on any boat. We would have to take a plane and send the [car on the] boat on ahead.
We went back to Sears and looked around. I bought a dacron & cotton shirt, very nice but too big. But I altered it in the car while waiting. We drove back home exhausted, and with dirty clothes. It rained every afternoon.
Oct 26. The Jenkins let me use their washing machine, so I did a much needed wash. I really prayed that it wouldn't rain until the clothes all dried. And the Lord certainly answered abundantly. It didn't rain at all Wed-Sat.
Ken went into town again to get information and tickets.
Dan Jenkins took the two boys into the High School with him. They had a marvelous time and were greatly impressed by the luxury of the furnishings.
We all went in to pick up the boys, and had lunch at the cafeteria (on the base.)
We met the Jenkins, finally (Mrs. Jenkins) and had a nice time visiting.
