Oct 18. It took only a little to get to the border from there. They didn't even bother looking in the car. We drove over a horrible road all day. There is a marked difference between the houses here in Costa Rica and the other Central American countries. A greater appearance of prosperity in houses and stores.
We ate dinner at a motel restaurant along the road--delicious steak and rice with chorizo. That made up for having practically no breakfast.
Then we drove till near Grecia and had cafe con leche with cheese sandwiches in a gas station place.
Decided to drive on to Grecia to see the Hernandez. We were stopped on the road by a truck blocking the road for a few minutes. That was soon cleared and we got to Grecia about 8:00. The Hernandez were in prayer meeting, so we got a room at the motel on the next block. We all slept in one room and had a shower.
After the kids were in bed, we walked over to the Hernandez. What a surprise we gave them. They were in bed already, but Mary got up. We had coffee and toast and chatted for a while. They invited us for meals the next day.
